Chirihama Onsen, a Seaside Spa by the Driving Beach

๐ŸŽจ Ishikawa|June 30, 2026

Chirihama Onsen

A seaside hot spring district in Hakui City, at the base of the Noto Peninsula. It sits right beside the Chirihama Nagisa Driveway, where you can drive a car along the sand, making it a prime location for watching the sun sink into the Sea of Japan. Inns here welcome guests with an amber source spring.

Highlights

The amber-tinted source is also called the silk-skin water and is known as a beauty spring that leaves the skin smooth. Time spent soaking while gazing at the sea and listening to the waves is something special. At nearby Chirihama you can enjoy the nationally rare experience of driving along a sandy beach at the waters edge.

Enjoying the Seasons

From spring through summer, sea bathing and beach driving are enjoyable, and the beauty of the sunsets stands out. From autumn into winter the fresh fish of the Sea of Japan come into season, letting you savor both the bath and the catch.

Access and Basic Information

About 10 minutes by car from JR Hakui Station, close to the Imahama and Hakui exits of the Noto Satoyama Kaido, and easy to reach by car from the Kanazawa direction. Please confirm whether day-use bathing is available and its hours with each inn official information.

A Quick Tip

The Nagisa Driveway can sometimes be impassable depending on the tide. Checking the low-tide hours before you go lets you drive the beach with peace of mind.
