Ogawa Onsen
In Asahi-machi at Toyama Prefecture eastern edge, Ogawa Onsen springs beside the Ogawa ravine as a mountain inn carrying more than four hundred years of history. Its abundant water and the openness of the riverside baths heighten the sense of travel deep within the mountains.
Highlights
The specialty is a cave-like natural open-air bath, shaped over long ages by the minerals in the spring water. Surrendering to the water while listening to the murmur of the river, you feel as if you have become one with nature. Walking paths nearby invite a stroll through the ravine.
Enjoying the Seasons
From spring into summer the deep green ravine brings coolness, and in autumn the coloring trees lend hues to your bath. Deep-snow winters call for care about road conditions, but they also offer the luxury of a quiet mountain bath all to yourself.
Access and Basic Information
Most visitors drive from stations such as Tomari on the Ainokaze Toyama Railway, and access is also possible from the Asahi Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway. Day-use bathing is accepted.
A Quick Tip
Because it lies among the mountains, do not forget warm clothing and to check road information in winter. The cave bath is most relaxing during early hours when crowds are few.
