Horikoshi Shrine

Horikoshi Shrine, located in Tennoji Ward, Osaka City, is an ancient shrine with 1,400 years of history, said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku when he built Shitennoji. Long drawing faith as "a god who grants a once-in-a-lifetime wish," it is locally known by the affectionate name "Chintaku-san." Though set amid the bustle of the city, it is a little-known power spot where you can offer prayers in quiet.

Highlights

- A Once-in-a-Lifetime Wish: The old custom is to pray with heartfelt sincerity for one truly important wish in your life. Worshippers carrying earnest wishes come from across the country. - History Linked to Prince Shotoku: As one of the seven shrines of Shitennoji, it is a venerable shrine that conveys the history of Prince Shotoku worship to this day. - Proximity to Chausuyama: Nearby is Chausuyama, the setting of the Siege of Osaka, allowing you to enjoy a history walk as well.

Enjoying the Seasons

Adjacent to Tennoji Park and Chausuyama, it is an area beautiful with cherry blossoms in spring and foliage in autumn. Though in the heart of the city, it has plenty of greenery, allowing for worship while sensing the seasons. As you can worship relatively calmly year-round, it is recommended for those who wish to pray carefully for an important wish.
