Imamiya Ebisu Shrine

Imamiya Ebisu Shrine, located in Naniwa Ward, Osaka City, is a god of business prosperity affectionately known as "Ebessan." It has long drawn the deep faith of Osaka merchants, and especially during the "Toka Ebisu" held every year from January 9 to 11, it shows tremendous liveliness with worshippers seeking fortune, making it one of Osaka's representative power spots.

Highlights

- Blessings of Business Prosperity: Merchants and business owners come to worship, wishing for a year of fortune and prosperity. It is an essential shrine for company managers. - Toka Ebisu and Lucky Bamboo: To the chant "Bring bamboo for business prosperity," receiving a lucky bamboo branch tied with auspicious tokens is the standard. It is given by the fukumusume maidens. - Lively Festival: During the three days of Toka Ebisu, the grounds and surroundings overflow with energy, letting you feel firsthand the vigor befitting Osaka, a city of commerce.

Enjoying the Seasons

The greatest highlight is the Toka Ebisu in January. Around a million worshippers visit over three days, and it is wrapped in the fervor of people seeking lucky bamboo. At other times you can worship relatively calmly, recommended for those who wish to pray for business prosperity at leisure. Close to Tsutenkaku and Shinsekai, it can be enjoyed along with a distinctly Osaka downtown stroll.
