Tabitabi JAPAN was created for people who cannot travel as often as they would like, and who want to make the most of the days off they do have. In Japanese, tabitabi means "time and again" — the name carries our wish that you will want to set off on a trip again and again.

A journey usually begins with a small thought: "I would like to see that." So we cover not only the famous destinations but also the places loved by people who live nearby, landscapes that change with the seasons, and the food and festivals that belong to one particular region. Our editors research official tourism information and the official pages of each site or facility, then organise what matters for planning — by theme and by season.

The English pages are written for visitors from outside Japan, with the practical details that are hardest to find in English: opening hours, admission prices, how to get there, and what the place is actually like at different times of year.

Articles are compiled by our editorial team from primary and public sources: the official websites of shrines, temples and facilities; tourism information published by municipal governments and local tourism associations; on-site information boards; and records of designated cultural properties and scenic sites published by national and local government. Wherever possible, each article ends with a list of the sources used, so you can check the information yourself.

Specific figures — admission prices, opening hours, telephone numbers and addresses — are published only within the range we could confirm from official sources. We do not fill gaps with estimates. Where a story is a local legend or where accounts differ, we say so rather than presenting it as established fact.

Prices, opening hours and event dates change over time. Every article shows its publication date and last updated date so you can see when the information was checked. We review articles on a continuing basis and apply changes as we confirm them.

Even so, we cannot guarantee that every detail is current. Please also check the official website of the facility or the local government before you travel.
