Terms of Use & Disclaimer

Thank you for reading Tabitabi JAPAN ("this site"). Please read the following before relying on anything published here to plan a trip.
1. Accuracy of the information
Our articles are compiled from primary and official sources: the websites of the facilities, shrines and temples themselves, tourism information published by municipal governments and local tourism associations, on-site information boards, and material published by national and local government. Where possible each article lists the sources used.
Even so, admission prices, opening hours, closing days, event dates and access routes change. We do not warrant that the information here is accurate, complete or current. Please check the official website of the facility or the local government before you travel.
If you spot something wrong, please tell us through the contact page. We check reports and correct confirmed errors.
2. Limitation of liability
We accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from the use of information on this site. Decisions about planning and undertaking a trip are yours, and are made at your own risk.
3. Safety in natural areas
Many of the places we describe are in the outdoors โ mountains, coastlines, waterfalls, caves and regions with heavy snowfall. These carry real risks, including sudden changes in weather, rockfall, rising water, ice on roads in winter, and encounters with wildlife including bears in some regions.
Always obey closure and no-entry signs, instructions given on site, and official weather and disaster warnings. Do not attempt a route beyond your equipment or fitness, and consider hiring a local guide where one is recommended. Nothing on this site should be read as an assurance that a place is safe at the time of your visit.
4. Etiquette at shrines, temples and private property
Some articles describe shrines, temples, cultural properties and places next to private land and homes. Rules on photography, visiting hours and parking differ from place to place. Please follow the rules posted on site, and take care not to disturb residents or other visitors.
5. Blessings, legends and hot-spring properties
Where we mention the blessings associated with a shrine or the properties attributed to a hot spring, we are describing what the shrine, temple or facility itself publishes, or what is traditionally told about the place. These are not claims of medical effect. If you have any health concern, consult a doctor before bathing.
