Hanazono Jinja Shrine

Located in Hanazono, Hanakawa, Kitaibaraki City, Ibaraki, Hanazono Jinja is an old shrine said to have been founded by the great general Sakanoue no Tamuramaro. Tucked quietly amid rich nature, its precinct wrapped in giant trees has the air of a hidden retreat, a power spot known to those in the know.

Among the green of the trees, the vermilion main hall and the gate of the guardian kings stand out beautifully, offering deep healing to those who visit.

A light-up is held each November, when the deep-red foliage floating against the night sky is enchanting.

As it lies deep in the mountains, November at the peak of autumn color is especially recommended for a visit. It gets cold during the light-up season, so dress warmly. Combine it with a stroll through Hanazono Valley to fully enjoy nature.
