Located in Hitachi City, Ibaraki, Oiwa Jinja sits at the foot of Mount Oiwa, said to be the oldest sacred mountain of old Hitachi Province. It enshrines as many as 188 deities and is known as a remarkable power spot believed to bring good fortune, protection from misfortune, and health and long life.
Tall trees rise so high they seem to hide the sky, and their solemn atmosphere overwhelms you at once. Passing through the tower gate and heading deeper, the dignified main hall stands quietly.

A Quick Tip
The climb up Mount Oiwa is a serious mountain trail. Plan with plenty of stamina and time to spare. If you only wish to worship, the main hall at the foot offers plenty of power to feel.
