Tsuyu Tenjin Shrine (Ohatsu Tenjin)

Tsuyu Tenjin Shrine, tucked quietly in the Umeda entertainment district of Kita Ward, Osaka City, is an ancient shrine said to have been founded around the year 701. It enshrines five deities, including Onamuchi-no-Okami, Sukunahikona-no-Okami, Amaterasu, Toyouke-hime, and Sugawara no Michizane. Known as the setting of the masterpiece The Love Suicides at Sonezaki by the Edo-period playwright Chikamatsu Monzaemon, it is affectionately called "Ohatsu Tenjin" after the story's heroine, Ohatsu.
