Hisaizu Jinja: A Healing Grove Where Peacocks Roam
Hisaizu Jinja
Standing in the Iwatsuki ward of Saitama City, Hisaizu Jinja is the guardian shrine of Iwatsuki, said to have been founded about 1400 years ago. It was once revered as a ward against misfortune for Iwatsuki Castle and has watched over the area ever since. A long approach of about 500 meters runs from the torii gate to the worship hall, and a dense grove spanning a vast wooded area quietly soothes the hearts of those who visit.
Chosen as one of Saitamas hometown forests and natural treasures, the grounds are also a haven for wild birds, a healing space wrapped in nature so rich it hardly seems to be near the city.
