Inubosaki, at the line's terminus, is a dramatic cape where Pacific swells crash against black rock platforms and the historic Inubosaki Lighthouse โ€” one of Japan's oldest Western-style lighthouses, built in 1874 โ€” presides over the meeting of the Tone River and the open ocean. Best Time to Visit

New Year's morning is the most iconic time to visit Inubosaki, with the Hatsuhinode sunrise drawing large, festive crowds. Spring and autumn offer the most comfortable temperatures for exploring the cape and riding the railway. The Choshi area's fishing industry is most active in autumn and winter, when the seafood available in local markets and restaurants is at its finest and freshest.
