There are two main routes to the Goto Islands, by sea and by air.

• By sea: from Nagasaki Port, a jetfoil (high-speed boat) reaches Fukue Island in about 1 hour 30 minutes, or a ferry in about 3 hours 30 minutes. Ferries run about three times a day and jetfoils four or more. Large ferries also operate from Hakata Port.
• By air: about 35 minutes by plane from Nagasaki Airport to Goto Tsubaki Airport (Fukue Airport), with around three round trips a day, the fastest way to reach the islands. Flights may be canceled in poor weather, so allow buffer on the return.
• Getting around: a rental car is by far the most convenient. Local buses run but are infrequent, so reserving to match your arrival is recommended. In peak season all cars can be booked out.

• Boats from Kami-Goto: About 1 hour by ferry or about 30 minutes by jetfoil from Naragao Port, and about 45 minutes from Wakamatsu Port
• World Heritage churches require advance notification: Advance notification is required when visiting the component churches such as Kashiragashima Church.
