5 Photogenic Scenic Spots in Osaka|Instagrammable Natural Landscape Recommendations

When you think of Osaka, it's a city of food and entertainment—Osaka has many breathtakingly beautiful scenic spots that overturn that image. Why not leave the hustle and bustle of the city and set off with a camera? We present 5 special places that color your Instagram feed.

1. Mt. Katsuragi & Diamond Trail (Chihayaakasaka Village, Minamikawachi District)

Mt. Katsuragi, where in spring a blanket of azaleas and in autumn fiery fall foliage color the mountainside. The sense of openness of taking in the Osaka Plain from near the summit is spectacular. Especially at dusk, the superb scenery of the "magic hour" when lights begin to come on in the city is one of a kind. A wide-angle composition shot from near the ropeway summit station with the plain as a backdrop is recommended.

  • 📅 Best season: April–May (azaleas), November (fall foliage)
  • ⏰ Best time: 30 minutes before to just after sunset
  • 🚃 Access: Bus from Kintetsu "Gose Station" + Katsuragi Ropeway

2. The Coastline Around Misaki Park in Misaki Town (Misaki Town, Sennan District)

This area, located at the southernmost point of Osaka Prefecture, prides itself on transparent superb scenery where the blue of sea and sky melt together. The combination of rocky shore and sea is buzzed about for letting you take photos just like an overseas resort. Descending to the reef at the timing of low tide and a composition cropping the waves and horizon from a super-low angle is hugely popular on SNS.

  • 📅 Best season: May–September (the contrast of blue sky and sea is the best)
  • ⏰ Best time: Morning (no backlight, the blue of the sea is vivid)
  • 🚃 Access: 15 minutes on foot from "Misaki Koen Station" on the Nankai Main Line

---

3. Minoo Falls (Minoo City)

Minoo Great Falls, also selected among the "100 Best Waterfalls of Japan," is a breathtaking beauty with its powerful 33-meter-tall waterfall and the contrast of deep green and fall foliage. A composition with the waterfall head-on and the gradation of fall foliage as a frame is the autumn masterpiece. Capturing the whole waterfall and the trees together in a vertical composition gives a shot full of a sense of depth.

  • 📅 Best season: mid-to-late November (foliage peak)
  • ⏰ Best time: Morning (light pours into the waterfall and sparkles)
  • 🚃 Access: About 40 minutes on foot from "Minoo Station" on the Hankyu Minoo Line

---

4. The Night View from the Summit of Mt. Ikoma (View toward Daito City and Shijonawate City)

The experience of looking down from the summit of Mt. Ikoma at the night view of the Osaka Plain, also praised as the "million-dollar night view," is exceptional. Standing on the border of Nara and Osaka, you can monopolize a glittering sea of light. If you take on a shooting method expressing streaks of light with long exposure using a tripod, you complete a shot that puts a pro to shame.

  • 📅 Best season: autumn to winter (the air is clear and you can see far)
  • ⏰ Best time: 30 minutes to 1 hour after sunset (blue hour)
  • 🚃 Access: Via the hiking course from "Ishikiri Station" on the Kintetsu Nara Line

---

5. Osaka Nanko & Sunset Spot (Suminoe Ward)

What surprises you—"can you see a sunset like this right in the middle of the city?"—is the Nanko area. The dusk sky where orange and purple melt into the sea surface, and the silhouettes of ships coming and going, are too picturesque. The composition of a human silhouette × sunset, capturing a person standing on the breakwater in the foreground as a silhouette, is a sure-fire frame that draws an overwhelming response on Instagram.

  • 📅 Best season: October–February (the sunset's position and color are the best)
  • ⏰ Best time: 15 minutes before to just after sunset
  • 🚃 Access: 10 minutes on foot from "Nakafuto Station" on the New Tram

Osaka's superb scenery is still in the middle of being discovered. By all means, take a camera in hand and set off to search for your very own "photogenic" shot ✨
