Kohoku Nagahama Stroll Course

Nagahama, the heart of the northern lake region, is a town where glass craft and castle town charm live side by side. It suits an unhurried walk.

Course Route

10:00 Start at Nagahama Station Head to Kurokabe Square, just steps from the station, toward a quarter of old black plastered buildings.

10:30 Glass craft at Kurokabe Square Peek into the glass hall and galleries and admire the colorful works.

12:00 Daitsuji temple and lunch at its gate Visit the temple with its great halls and try grilled mackerel somen at the gate.

14:00 On to Nagahama Castle History Museum Climb the rebuilt keep linked to Toyotomi Hideyoshi and enjoy the lake view to finish.

Highlights

The glass craft of Kurokabe, the retro streets, the great halls of Daitsuji, and Nagahama Castle by the lake are the draws.

Access and Tips

JR Nagahama Station is the base and the area is walkable on foot. The castle is a little farther, so make it a lakeside stroll.

A Quick Tip

The glass studios offer glass blowing experiences, a lovely way to make a keepsake of the trip.
