Kawazu Nanadaru

Located in Kawazu Town on the eastern coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture, Kawazu Nanadaru is a scenic natural spot where seven beautiful waterfalls are scattered over about 1.5 kilometers along the upper reaches of the Kawazu River. The name is read Nanadaru, and from upstream the falls line up as Kama, Ebi, Hebi, Shokei, Kani, Deai, and O. You can visit each waterfall, all with different expressions, along a walking trail, making it a popular course that combines escape from the heat, healing, and a power spot all in one.

Enjoying the Seasons

Summer brings coolness through the deep valley shade and the sound of water, perfect for escaping the heat. In autumn the whole valley turns to fall colors, making a splendid contrast with the white flow of water. In early spring the Kawazu cherry blossoms can be enjoyed nearby, letting you combine a waterfall tour with flower viewing.

Access and Basic Information

- Location: Kawazu Town, Kamo District, Shizuoka Prefecture - Access: About thirty minutes by bus from Kawazu Station on the Izukyu Line. By car, along National Route 414. - The waterfall tour trail takes about an hour on foot. There are ups and downs, so wear comfortable shoes. - Parking is available, and day use hot spring facilities can be found nearby.

A Quick Tip

If you want to visit all seven, the route descending from Kama Falls upstream is easier on the legs. Walk slowly and take in plenty of negative ions.
