Nyoirinji and Mount Nakatsumine

Mount Nakatsumine rises at the eastern end of the Tsurugi range in Takara town, Tokushima city. Nyoirinji, standing on this mountain, is loved by locals as the Kannon of Nakatsumine after its principal image of the wish granting Kannon. Across the Nakatsumine area many star legends are passed down, telling how Kobo Daishi faced this direction from a peak at Tairyuji, worshipped the seven stars of the Big Dipper, and prayed down the evil stars.
