Kamui Misaki

Cape Kamui stretches in a long, narrow point from the tip of the Shakotan Peninsula in Hokkaido. Its name comes from the Ainu word kamui, meaning god, and it has long been passed down as a sacred place. Walking the Charenka Path that leads to the tip of the cape, you find a stunning view woven by the clear sea known as Shakotan Blue, the sheer cliffs, and Kamui Rock rising from the water. It is one of the finest natural power spots in Hokkaido, where you can feel the energy of nature with your whole body.

A Quick Tip

It takes about 20 minutes each way to walk to the tip, so wear comfortable shoes and prepare for wind. On very windy days the path is closed for safety, so checking in advance is wise.
