Kinkengu Shrine

Tucked quietly into the Tsurugi district of Hakusan, Kinkengu is one of the oldest shrines in the Hokuriku region, said to have been founded in 95 BCE. It was once called Tsurugi no Miya, and the place name Tsurugi is believed to derive from it. Unlike the busier grand shrines, this is a hidden hub of money luck, lovingly protected by local people for generations.

Highlights

- A main hall carrying over two thousand years of history. Standing in the calm precinct alone is enough to make you straighten your back - The small Ototsurugi sub-shrine right beside the main hall. Said to grant the strongest blessing for wealth, it is a hidden essential stop that visitors never skip - The atmosphere of the grounds framed by stone steps and tall trees, best enjoyed together with the old gate town of Tsurugi

Enjoying the Seasons

Spring brings refreshing new greenery to the precinct, and summer offers pleasant shade and cool air. In autumn the surrounding hills change color, making for a calm visit paired with a stroll through the gate town. The monthly first-of-the-month visit is also a cherished local custom.

Access and Basic Information

- Location: 118-5 Mi, Hizumemachi, Tsurugi, Hakusan, Ishikawa - Access: About a 10 to 15 minute walk from Tsurugi Station on the Hokutetsu Ishikawa Line. Reachable by car from the Hokuriku Expressway - Hours: Grounds open freely - Admission: Free (free parking available)

A Quick Tip
