• Opening hours and closing days: Kikkodo's Bikan Historical Quarter shop is open 9:30-18:00 (closed on January 1), and the murasuzume hand-baking experience runs 10:00-16:00 (closed December 31 to January 2). Koeido's Chunagon main shop is open 9:00-18:00 from Monday to Saturday and 9:00-17:00 on Sundays and public holidays. The shops on Kojima Jeans Street each have their own opening hours.
• Budget and prices: The murasuzume hand-baking experience is charged for (please ask the shop about the price and whether a reservation is needed). Strolling around the Bikan Historical Quarter and Jeans Street itself is free.
• Access: Kikkodo's Bikan Historical Quarter shop is about a 10-minute walk from JR Kurashiki Station (at the entrance to the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter). Okayama Castle is about a 10-minute walk from the Shiroshita tram stop. Kojima Jeans Street is about a 10-minute walk from JR Kojima Station.
• Parking: Dedicated parking is limited both in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter and around Okayama Castle, so it is best to use the paid car parks nearby or public transport.
• Photography rules: The Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter is a townscape where residents still go about their daily lives. Do not photograph private houses or shop interiors without permission, and ask each shop for permission before photographing inside. The riverside promenade along the Kurashiki River is narrow, so avoid using a tripod or taking photographs in a way that blocks the path. For the wall art and displays on Jeans Street, too, get permission before shooting on shop premises.
• Points to note: Eat street food only in the places designated by each shop. The Bikan Historical Quarter is paved with stone, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The fruit seasons are short, with white peaches roughly in July and August and pione grapes in September and October, so they may not be available outside those months.
