Course Route

10:00 Start at Nishitetsu Yanagawa Station The journey begins at Nishitetsu Yanagawa Station. Head to the boarding point and get ready for the river cruise.

10:30 Cruise by donko boat Board the river cruise that has continued since the Showa era. Listen to the boatman handling the pole and to the nursery rhymes of Kitahara Hakushu as you glide gently along the canals lined with swaying willows.

12:00 Lunch with steamed eel The Yanagawa specialty seiro mushi tops sauced rice with eel and shredded egg, then steams it in a bamboo basket. Take your time to savor the taste of a long established shop.

13:30 Visit Ohana Head to Ohana, the residence of the former Yanagawa lord Tachibana family. A beautiful garden designated a national scenic site spreads out, and an elegant time flows there.

14:30 Explore places tied to Kitahara Hakushu Trace the footsteps of the Yanagawa born poet Kitahara Hakushu. At his birthplace and memorial hall, reflect on the canal scenery he loved.
