Niseko Goshiki Onsen

Between Niseko Annupuri and Iwaonupuri, on a plateau 750 meters high, springs Niseko Goshiki Onsen. Because the water shifts from clear to milky white depending on the sunlight, it earned the name Goshiki, meaning five colors. In crisp air scented with sulfur, this remote spring offers thick water drawn straight from the source.

Highlights

- A mysterious sulfur spring that changes color with the light - The single inn baths with both indoor and open-air pools - Plateau scenery unique to a trailhead set between two mountains

Enjoying the Seasons

Summer bustles as a base for climbing Niseko Annupuri and Iwaonupuri, with alpine plants and grand views. Autumn colors the surrounding slopes, and winter deepens its charm as a quiet remote spring wrapped in snow. A soak in the clear air is truly special.

Access and Basic Information

- About 30 minutes by car from JR Kutchan Station - About 40 minutes by bus bound for Goshiki Onsen from JR Niseko Station - Located on a plateau 750 meters above sea level - Spring type is sulfur spring

A Quick Tip

Sulfur springs are potent but also more stimulating to the skin. Keep long soaks in check and rest well afterward. In winter, be sure to check road conditions and access methods in advance.
