Spreading around Tsurumaki Onsen Station on the Odakyu Line in the eastern part of Hadano, Tsurumaki Onsen is a convenient spa where you can easily enjoy a bath right by the station. In particular, the municipal day use facility Kobo no Sato Yu is loved for being just a few minutes walk from the station. Its calcium rich chloride water warms the body to the core, and many people stop by on the way back from hiking in Tanzawa.

Highlights

  • Clear, colorless chloride water with a high calcium content
  • The public day spa Kobo no Sato Yu near the station, with a footbath on its grounds
  • A facility offering two different sources between the open air bath and the indoor bath
  • A convenient base for hikes toward Tanzawa and Mount Oyama

Enjoying the Seasons

Set at the foot of Tanzawa, the area lets you feel the mountain seasons up close, with fresh greenery in spring and foliage in autumn. During the hiking season it is a handy place to wash off the sweat of a mountain walk, and in winter the warming chloride water is welcome to a chilled body. Whether for a casual day trip or an overnight stay, it is a spa to enjoy at your own pace.

Access and Basic Information

  • About a three minute walk from Tsurumaki Onsen Station on the Odakyu Line to the day spa Kobo no Sato Yu
  • Easy to reach from Shinjuku on the Odakyu Line, with bathing complete right by the station
  • Kobo no Sato Yu is open from ten to nine, with last reception at eight, closed Mondays and the next weekday when Monday is a holiday. A two hour session is around eight hundred yen on weekdays and one thousand yen on weekends and holidays, with a full day around one thousand yen
  • There is a paid parking lot on the grounds, at one hundred fifty yen for the first hour and one hundred yen per thirty minutes thereafter. Main water type is calcium and sodium chloride spring, mildly alkaline

Practical Travel Notes

  • The best seasons are the fresh green of around May and the autumn leaves of November, convenient for stopping by on the way back from a Tanzawa or Mount Oyama hike
  • Kobo no Sato Yus appeal is that everything is complete right by the station. There are two hour and full day options, and weekdays or mornings are best for avoiding crowds
  • There is also a free footbath on the grounds, just right for a rest after your bath. Bathing alone can be enjoyed in a stay of one to two hours
  • Budget wise, expect around one thousand yen for a day bath, with parking charged by time. The chloride water warms you well, so take care not to soak too long

A Quick Tip

Tsurumaki Onsens appeal is that everything is complete right by the station. Combine it with a hike in Tanzawa or up Mount Oyama to enjoy both mountain walking and hot springs in a single day. Chloride water warms you well, so remember to rehydrate after your bath.
