Hirado Senrigahama Onsen: A West Coast Bath Bathed in Sunset

⛩️ Nagasaki|July 1, 2026

Hirado Senrigahama Onsen

Hirado Island flourished long ago through exchange with the wider world. On its west coast, beside the sweeping sands of Senrigahama, rises Senrigahama Onsen. With white beaches and blue sea in view, a bath while the sun sinks into the East China Sea is a special pleasure. A soothing soak rounds off a journey across this island full of exotic history.

Highlights

Senrigahama, spread out before you, is one of Hirados finest beaches. Its shallow, gentle waters draw summer swimmers. A short trip away you will find Hirado Castle, the Xavier Memorial Church, and streets that still recall the old southern trade, scattered sights that convey a distinctive past. The rich seafood of Hirado is a delight in its own right.

Enjoying the Seasons

Summer brings crowds who combine swimming with a soak, and a walk along the beach afterward feels wonderful. In autumn and winter the air clears, and the sun setting on the horizon grows all the more vivid. Throughout the year you can enjoy the water together with sea views.

Access and Basic Information

Crossing the Hirado Bridge by car is convenient, with access from the Matsuura area on the Kyushu mainland. Bus routes also serve the island. Inns with sea views are plentiful, and some facilities offer day use bathing.

A Quick Tip

If you are aiming for the sunset, check the time in advance to be safe. Wind can pick up by the shore, so bringing a light layer to slip on after your bath keeps you comfortable.
