Tsushima Nagisa no Yu

Floating in the Genkai Sea between Kyushu and the continent, Tsushima is a border island. In its south, near Izuhara, the bathing facility Nagisa no Yu is a restful spot that gently eases the fatigue of island travel. Surrounded by deep mountains and a jagged coastline, it offers a moment wrapped in the nature unique to Tsushima.

Highlights

Forests cover most of Tsushima, and its ria coast creates intricate, beautiful sea scenery. There is plenty to see, from views of Aso Bay from lookout points to historic sites that speak of exchange with the continent. After warming up in the bath, savoring the islands fresh seafood is a further pleasure of the trip.

Enjoying the Seasons

From spring into summer you can revel in the islands lush nature and rinse off the heat in the bath. In autumn and winter the air clears and the sea views stand out, making the warm water all the more welcome. All year round you can sink into quiet island time.

Access and Basic Information

Reach Tsushima by ferry or high speed boat from Hakata, or by air. Since the island is long from north to south, getting around is mainly by car. The Izuhara area gathers lodgings and eateries and makes a handy base.

A Quick Tip

Because Tsushima stretches a long way north to south, allow extra time for travel within the island. Boat and flight services can be affected by the weather, so plan a schedule with some room to spare.
