Muscat Grapes

Okayama is a renowned grape region known nationwide for producing Muscat of Alexandria. With large, translucent yellow-green berries, an elegant fragrance, and refined sweetness, this grape is called the queen of grapes and is highly popular as a premium fruit for gifts.

Highlights

Grown one cluster at a time with great care in greenhouses, many muscat varieties can be eaten skin and all, and their gorgeous aroma fills the mouth. In recent years the seedless Shine Muscat, enjoyed whole with the skin, has also become popular and is a highlight of fruit picking in Okayama.

Enjoying the Seasons

The season runs mainly from summer to autumn. From around August to October you can enjoy grape picking at tourist orchards in the prefecture and taste freshly picked muscat. Sweets such as parfaits and jellies also appear in many places.

Access and Basic Information

You can enjoy it at tourist orchards around Okayama City and Kurashiki City and at fruit parlors near JR Okayama Station. Access to the orchards is convenient by car.

A Quick Tip
