Close to Tenjinbashisuji Rokuchome in Kita Ward, Osaka City, Naniwa no Yu is an urban natural hot spring with an open-air bath on a building rooftop. The sodium chloride bicarbonate spring drawn from deep underground is called a beauty water that softens the skin, letting you enjoy a genuine hot spring in the heart of the city. It is also easy to drop by on the way home from work or between sightseeing stops.

Highlights

  • The open sense of looking up at the city sky from a rooftop open-air bath, boasting a grand panorama from the eighth floor.
  • A sodium chloride bicarbonate spring with abundant flow and water that feels gentle on the skin.
  • Indoor baths, reclining baths, a sauna, and a carbonated bath among varied tubs for a relaxed stay.
  • A full menu of relaxation options such as body scrubs and esthetics.

Enjoying the Seasons

The rooftop open-air bath is wonderful at night, soaking in the bath while feeling the cool city air. In winter the night sky beyond the steam is beautiful, and in summer the breeze that sweeps past after the bath brings a sense of coolness.

Access and Basic Information

  • Address: 1-7-31 Nagara-Nishi, Kita Ward, Osaka City
  • Access: About an 8-minute walk north from Exit 5 of Tenjinbashisuji Rokuchome Station on the Osaka Metro Sakaisuji and Tanimachi lines.
  • Hours: 10:00 to 25:00 Monday through Friday, and 8:00 to 25:00 on weekends and holidays (last admission 24:00).
  • Admission: about 850 yen for adults and 400 yen for children (higher on weekends and holidays), with towels charged separately (subject to change; check the latest information).
  • Parking available (free for a set time with bath use, with a height limit), and good access by train.

Practical Travel Notes

  • Best time of day: the night open-air bath under the city sky is exceptional, but the after-work hours are busy, so early mornings just after opening or weekday afternoons are calmer.
  • Avoiding crowds: weekends and holidays are busy all day, so a weekday visit is best for a relaxed stay.
  • Time to set aside: about one to one and a half hours for bathing alone, or two to three hours with a sauna and body scrub.
  • Real nearby spots: the Tenjinbashisuji shopping arcade, known as the longest in Japan, is right nearby for eating and shopping, and Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, famed as the shrine of the god of learning, is within walking distance.
  • Budget sense: even with a meal or drink added to the bathing fee, about 1,000 to 2,000 yen per person. It is perfect for a break during sightseeing around Umeda and the Kita district.

A Quick Tip

Because you can enjoy a full natural hot spring in the city center, it is perfect for a refresh between sightseeing. Pairing it with a food stroll along the Tenjinbashisuji arcade is a classic plan. Avoiding the busy night hours lets you relax at ease.
