Babahera Ice Cream

🍶 Akita|July 2, 2026

Babahera Ice Cream

Baba means an elderly woman and hera means a metal spatula, and the name comes from roadside vendors serving ice cream with a spatula. Yellow banana flavor and pink strawberry flavor are deftly layered and shaped like a rose. It is a local ice cream that colors summer in Akita.

Highlights

Above all, the skill with the spatula is a marvel. Watching each petal built up so nimbly is delightful and often stops passersby in their tracks. Its light, icy texture is perfect on a hot day.

Enjoying the Seasons

Roadside sales run mainly from spring into summer. Look for the parasols at beaches, event grounds, and along main roads. A cone savored under blue skies is exceptionally refreshing.

Access and Basic Information

It is seen along roads and at tourist spots throughout the prefecture, especially around Akita City. Look for it when out and about in summer.

A Quick Tip

It melts fast, so eat it right after it is served. Do not forget a photo before the rose shape softens.
