🍶 Akita|July 3, 2026

Oyu Onsen

Spreading along the Oyu River in Kazuno, Oyu Onsen is a historic hot spring that flourished as a designated bath of the Nambu domain in the Edo period. Inns and public bathhouses dot the riverside, giving the town a warm, unpretentious spa-village atmosphere.

Highlights

The clear, gentle water has long been loved by healing guests. Casual public bathhouses in the town center offer a chance to mingle with locals, part of the areas charm. A short trip away lie the Oyu Stone Circles, Jomon-era ritual remains inscribed as World Heritage.

Enjoying the Seasons

Cherry blossoms in spring, river play in summer, and foliage in autumn each bring their own face, while winter offers a quiet soak amid snowy scenery.

Access and Basic Information

About 20 minutes by bus from JR Kazuno-Hanawa Station. It is close to the Towada interchange on the Tohoku Expressway and makes a handy base for touring Lake Towada.

A Quick Tip

The public baths are part of local daily life, so mind your manners, and pair your soak with a history walk to the stone circles.
