Nyuto Onsen — Ultimate Hot Spring Retreat in a Hidden Valley

High in the mountains of Semboku in central Akita Prefecture, within Towada-Hachimantai National Park, lies one of Japan's most celebrated hot spring clusters: Nyuto Onsen. Getting There and Basic Information

The gateway is Tazawako Station on the JR Akita Shinkansen line. From the station, take the Ugo Kotsu local bus on the Nyuto line to Nyuto Onsen, about 50 minutes (950 yen one way to the Nyuto Onsen stop, or 850 yen to the Tsurunoyu Onsen Iriguchi stop, per the Ugo Kotsu fare table as of April 1, 2026).
