Kamogawa Sea World and Sotobo Seafood Day

🥜 Chiba|June 30, 2026

Kamogawa Sea World and Sotobo Seafood Day

This sea-focused course makes the most of the Sotobo area on the Pacific side of the Boso Peninsula. Centered on Kamogawa Sea World, famous nationwide for its orca performances, it pairs the aquarium with a fresh seafood lunch only a harbor town can offer. A perfect day for families and couples alike.

Course Route

9:00 Start at Kamogawa Sea World Enter right at opening and first check the popular show schedule. The spacious park lines its exhibits along the coast, with a pleasant sea breeze.

9:30 Watch the orca performance The powerful orca jumps are a must-see. Front-row seats get splashed, so choosing where to sit is part of the fun. Follow up with the dolphin and sea lion shows.

11:30 See the belugas and penguins Visit the charming white belugas and the waddling penguins. The close-up exhibits are a real draw.

12:30 Seafood lunch in the harbor town At restaurants inside or near the park, enjoy a seafood rice bowl or sashimi set made with locally landed fish. Sotobo is known for golden-eye snapper and horse mackerel.

14:00 Stroll the Kamogawa shore After lunch, walk along the coast and take in the wide Pacific horizon. In good weather, tide-pool exploring is a treat.

15:30 Souvenir hunting at the Katsuura and Kamogawa harbors Look for dried fish and local seafood products to close out the day in true fishing-town style.

Highlights

Kamogawa Sea World is one of Japans largest marine entertainment facilities and a rare aquarium where you can meet orcas. The Sotobo harbor towns thrive on fishing fed by the Kuroshio current, with seasonal catches changing through the year.

Access and Tips

By rail, Awa-Kamogawa Station on the JR Sotobo Line is closest, with a free shuttle bus from the station. By car, you can reach it via the Tateyama Expressway, and parking is available. Show times are fixed, so check the schedule right after entering and plan your day around it.

A Quick Tip

Front-row seats at the orca show get thoroughly soaked. If you want to stay dry, sit toward the back; if you want the full impact, bring a towel or rain gear and take a front seat for comfort.
