Takeno Onsen Kitamaekan

Standing on Takeno Beach in Toyooka City, Kitamaekan is an exhibition hall named for the kitamae trading ships that once plied the Sea of Japan, and on its second floor is the day-use bath called Takeno Zekkei Onsen, the scenic bath. True to its name, the Sea of Japan and white sands fill the large windows, and soaking while taking in the view is its greatest draw.

Access and Basic Information

It sits along Takeno Beach, a few minutes by car from Takeno Station on the JR San-in Main Line. It is close to Kinosaki Onsen, making it easy to combine in one trip. The bath keeps set hours and closing days, so check before you visit. Day-use bathing is available.

In the evening you may be able to watch the sun set over the Sea of Japan right from the bath. Aim for a clear day and you can enjoy an unforgettable soak with a breathtaking view.
