Shioiri Onsen: Day-Use Hot Spring Baths & Prices

This quiet hot spring rises in a green valley of southern Manno town, surrounded by water and forest. Drawn from deep underground, this sodium bicarbonate cold mineral spring has a simple, unassuming character that has earned it a name as a hidden spring of Sanuki. Note that it is said to be suspended for the time being (see the notes below).

Access and Basic Information

Head south into the hills by car from central Manno town. It is easy to reach on a drive from the Kotohira area, with nature-rich parks and reservoirs scattered nearby. Public transport is limited, so arriving by car is the norm.

According to official information, owing to a decline in the spring's flow the bath has been suspended for the time being as of January 13, 2026. If you plan to visit, be sure to confirm in advance by the official site or phone whether it has reopened. During its operating period the adult fee was around 550 yen, hours ran roughly from 10 in the morning to 9 at night, Wednesday was the closing day, and the water was an alkaline sodium bicarbonate cold mineral spring.

A Quick Tip

Set along a quiet mountain road, it is best visited in daylight before dusk even after any reopening. Do not forget to confirm that it is operating before you go. It suits anyone seeking a slow, relaxed pace.

Practical Information for Your Visit

• Current status: The hot spring suspended operations for the time being as of January 13, Reiwa 8 (2026). No date has been set for reopening. Accommodation at the Furusato Kenshukan training hall is also suspended
• Spring quality: A sodium bicarbonate cold mineral spring (alkaline, hypotonic, cold mineral spring), pH 8.6
• Source temperature: 19.5 degrees C. As it is a cold mineral spring pumped up from 500 m underground, the water was heated before being run into the bathtubs
• Indications: Neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, frozen shoulder, motor paralysis, stiffness of the joints, bruises, sprains, chronic digestive complaints, hemorrhoids, sensitivity to cold, convalescence, recovery from fatigue, and general health promotion
• Layout of the baths: One large bath each for men and women, with a sauna and a cold-water bath attached. The men's and women's baths were swapped on the first Thursday of each month. There is no open-air bath
• Bathing fees (before the suspension): 550 yen for adults, 400 yen for children (from age 3 to elementary school age), 400 yen for town residents aged 70 and over, and 400 yen for holders of a disability certificate. Coupon books of 11 tickets cost 5,500 yen for adults and 4,000 yen for children, elderly town residents and people with disabilities
• Opening hours (before the suspension): 10:00 to 21:00 (last entry 20:30), closed every Wednesday and over the New Year period (December 31 to January 1)
• Amenities: Body soap and shampoo-conditioner were provided in the bathing area. Towels, hairbrushes, razors, toothbrushes and shower caps were sold inside the building
• Parking: 40 spaces for passenger cars, free of charge
• Access: About 5 minutes by car from Shioiri Station on the JR Dosan Line. It sits in a valley among the mountains and public transport is limited, so coming by car is the norm

• If you want a bath nearby: Day-use bathing is available at Michi-no-Eki Kotonami / Epia Mikado in Kawahigashi, Manno Town. Hours are 9:00 to 20:00 (last admission to the baths 19:30), closed every Tuesday (open on public holidays and festival days). It draws water from the Mikado Onsen hot spring, said to have been praised by the Edo-period scholar Hiraga Gennai
