Takamatsu Crater no Yu Tennen Onsen Kirara

This day-trip hot spring in Ichinomiya, Takamatsu, draws water from deep beneath the so-called Takamatsu Crater, thought to be the site of a meteorite impact some fifteen centuries ago.

Highlights

The open-air area features an unusual crater tub carved from a single slab of stone brought from China. Indoors you will find a sauna and jet baths, so you can move between a variety of tubs as if touring several springs.

Enjoying the Seasons

Open late into the night throughout the year, it is easy to drop by at the end of a journey or between sightseeing stops. Pairing it with a visit to nearby Ichinomiya-ji, a temple linked to the Shikoku pilgrimage, is also a fine idea.

Access and Basic Information

It sits within walking distance of Kotoden Ichinomiya Station and is easy to reach by car from central Takamatsu. An adjoining lodge also serves as an inn for pilgrims.
