Tsujun Bridge
Spanning Yamato, Kamimashiki District, Kumamoto, Tsujun Bridge is a stone arch aqueduct built in the Edo period. To bring water to the water poor Shiraito Plateau, it was constructed in 1854 by the chief village headman Futa Yasunosuke. The bridge is about seventy eight meters long and some twenty one meters high, and it is famed for the powerful way water bursts from its center during sightseeing releases. As the fruit of the wisdom and skill of those who came before, the bridge was designated a national treasure in 2023.
