Getting There & Tips

From Tokyo Station or Shinagawa, the Tokaido Shinkansen to Atami takes approximately 45 minutes. Local trains on the Ito Line serve the town.

Best Time to Visit

January to February for Atami's famous early-blooming plum blossom festival. July and August for fireworks and sea swimming. Winter onsen bathing with sea views is supremely comfortable.
