โ›ฉ๏ธ Tochigi|May 11, 2026

The Atmosphere of the Storehouse Town

Tochigi City flourished as a post town on the Nikko Reihei-shi Highway in the Edo period, developing as a commercial center through river transport on the Uzumagawa River. The merchant storehouses lining the river preserve that era's atmosphere, making it a popular tourist destination.

River Boat Tour

Boat tours on the Uzumagawa River are available, where boatmen explain Tochigi's history and culture as you drift past storehouses and willow-lined banks on both sides.

Float Hall and Autumn Festival

The "Tochigi Autumn Festival" is a traditional festival designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property, featuring magnificent floats parading through the city. The Float Hall displays intricately crafted float dolls up close.
