Imadaki

In central Tottori, in a place called Kitafuku in Yurihama, there is a grand waterfall named Imadaki. Its drop is about 44 meters. Wrapped in the quiet nature of the hills, the water pouring down the rock face in a single rush is striking. Since long ago the dragon king and a fierce guardian deity have been honored here, and it is known as a fall where a kami and a buddha are revered together in one place.

A short walk along the path from the parking area brings you near the basin. It is a fine hidden spot for those who want a quiet waterfall outing not overly turned into a tourist site.

Highlights

- A bold cascade with a drop of about 44 meters - Worship blending kami and buddha, honoring the dragon king and a fierce deity - Rare nature such as plants clinging to the rock wall - The ease of coming close to the basin

Enjoying the Seasons

In spring fresh green colors the falls and the rich flow is worth seeing. In summer the spray brings coolness and the forest is perfect for a quiet walk. In autumn the surrounding trees turn color, a beautiful pairing with the waterfall. In winter you meet the crisp, sharpened form of the fall in clear air. Touring it together with the nearby Fudo Falls is also recommended.

Access and Basic Information

- Located in Kitafuku, Yurihama, Tohaku County, Tottori - About 200 meters on foot from the parking area to the basin - The path and parking area are well maintained - Fudo Falls stands nearby and can be enjoyed in the same trip

A Quick Tip

Fudo Falls and Imadaki are very close, so be sure to visit both. The path is short, but it can be slippery underfoot, so comfortable shoes are best. Taking a deep breath in the quiet of the forest leaves the heart feeling washed clean.
