Hakusan Domon, a Heart-Shaped Sea Cave Blessed by the Sea Goddess

🐟 Kochi|June 24, 2026

Hakusan Domon

Hakusan Domon, rising on the coast west of Cape Ashizuri in Tosashimizu City, Kochi Prefecture, is a granite sea cave carved by wave erosion. At sixteen meters high and seventeen meters wide, it is the largest granite sea cave in Japan and is designated a natural monument of Kochi Prefecture. Because the cave looks heart-shaped, and because the rock above it appears like the profile of a woman, it is cherished as a power spot for love, blessed by the goddess of the sea.
