Standing in Saitsu, Amakusa, Kumamoto, Saitsu Shrine is formally called the Saitsu Fifteen Deity Shrine and is an old shrine deeply rooted in its community. The splendid camphor tree rising in its grounds is known as the camphor tree of matchmaking, and worshipers from inside and outside the prefecture come to gently touch the sacred tree or circle it while wishing for a good match. It is also known for offering as many as seventeen goshuin seals, and quite a few people make the trip seeking its vivid, colorful seals.
