Yamada Onsen

In the Yamada district of Miyakonojo City, spreading at the foot of the Kirishima mountain range, Yamada Onsen wells up. Long loved by local people, it is a fine spring cherished as a day use facility easy to drop by. Amid the easygoing air characteristic of the basin country, it is a homely hot spring where you can soak at leisure.

Highlights

The sodium bicarbonate water is smooth and gentle on the skin and is well regarded as a beauty bath. Baths that make generous use of free flowing spring water are popular even among locals, and you can feel the moist softness of the skin after a soak. Unpretentious yet particular about water quality, it can be called a fine everyday spring.

Enjoying the Seasons

In spring the basin farmland is wrapped in fresh buds, and in summer the cool breeze after a bath is delightful. Autumn colors the peaks of Kirishima, letting you enjoy mountain scenery on the way to and from a soak. In winter, amid the deep chill of the basin climate, the bicarbonate water warms the body thoroughly.

Access and Basic Information

Access is convenient by car, about twenty minutes from the Miyakonojo interchange on the Miyazaki Expressway. With ample parking and facilities open from morning to night, you can enjoy the bath casually among the locals. The bathing fee is reasonable too, perfect for an everyday soak.

A Quick Tip

Some facilities open early in the morning, so a bath at the start of a trip before you set off is a stylish way to use it. Savor plenty of the free flowing water and be sure to feel the moist softness of your skin afterward.
