Aoshima Onsen: Hot Spring Guide & Visitor Access

Access and Basic Information

It is within walking distance of Aoshima Station on the JR Nichinan Line, and about thirty minutes by car from central Miyazaki City. Being near Miyazaki Airport, it fits easily as the start or end of a trip. You can also reach Aoshima by Miyazaki Kotsu bus from the Miyako City bus center. Some inns welcome day visitors, so you can stop by casually alongside sightseeing in Aoshima.

A Quick Tip

Combining it with a walk to Aoshima Shrine and the Devils Washboard lets you enjoy a full half day of southern mood. The midday sun is strong, so if you walk the shore do not forget a hat and water.

The shrine can be visited year round, and combined with the hot spring it makes a fine half day walking course. The shore has strong sun and sea wind, so bring a hat and drinks, and dry off promptly after your bath to avoid catching a chill.
