Shirahone Onsen

On the eastern slope of Mount Norikura in the Northern Alps of Matsumoto City, Shirahone Onsen is a secluded spa nestled in the mountains at about 1,400 meters elevation. Access and Basic Information

It is about one hour by car from the Matsumoto interchange on the Nagano Expressway. Highland buses also run, but services are limited, so check the timetable in advance. Some inns also allow day-use bathing.

Because it lies in the mountains, temperatures are low and some sections of road are narrow. If you drive, plan with extra time and bring warm clothing.
