Set within a sprawling resort along the West Coast of Okinawa Island in Onna Village, Hama-no-Yu is a view bath that overlooks the resort's private beach. It is the ideal place to soothe your body after a full day in the sun. Arranged as a spa with a sauna, it lets overnight guests soak at a leisurely pace.

Highlights

The spacious bathing area overlooking the cobalt-blue sea features an indoor bath and a sauna, so you can warm up in plentiful water after swimming or playing on the beach. A relaxation room offers a quiet break, and with restaurants and pools within the resort, families and groups can happily spend the whole day here.

Enjoying the Seasons

In summer the bath refreshes a body tired from marine sports and ocean swimming, while in winter it warms you up even in mild Okinawa. As it overlooks the sea, bathing at dusk while watching the West Coast's signature sunset is a lovely choice.

Access and Basic Information

About 20 minutes by car from the Kyoda Interchange on the Okinawa Expressway, and roughly one hour from Naha Airport using the expressway. It is generally open from 17:00 to about 22:30 last reception, with a morning bath from around 7:00 to 9:00. The large bath is basically for overnight guests, so please note that day visitors are not accepted. Conditions vary by season, so checking the official site for the latest details before your visit is reassuring.

Practical Travel Notes

Dusk is ideal, letting you enjoy the sea view and sunset together during your soak. The morning bath is bracing too, a fine way to start the day. Allow about an hour for a bath, or a full day combined with the pools and beach. Nearby, Manzamo and Cape Maeda and other west coast sights lie within driving range, making it a good base for touring Onna Village. Since there is no day-use, plan it together with an overnight stay.

A Quick Tip

After a day on the beach, rinse off thoroughly in the shower before entering the large bath. Washing away the sticky salt first makes settling into the tub all the more refreshing, easing the day's fatigue. Shifting your timing away from the busy hours around dusk makes for a calmer soak.

A direct limousine bus from Naha Airport (1,700 yen for adults, 850 yen for children; 1,600 yen for adults when boarding at the Naha Bus Terminal) runs several times a day
  • Good to know: As a benefit of booking online through the official website, some reservations come with a time-limited use ticket for Hama-no-Yu (16:00-20:00). After 20:00 you can carry on using it by paying an extra 400 yen for adults and 200 yen for children, with last admission at 22:30

Note: There is no railway in Onna Village on Okinawa's main island (the Yui Rail runs only around Naha City). Getting around means a rental car, the limousine bus or local buses.
