10:00 Start in front of the Tower of the Sun Begin in front of the Tower of the Sun, the symbol of Banpaku Memorial Park. This giant work, created by Taro Okamoto for the 1970 Osaka Expo, is truly overwhelming. First look up at the whole tower from the front and take a photo. Interior viewing of the tower opens at 10:00 with last reception around 16:30, and it is closed on Wednesdays, so check the day of your visit.

10:30 Visit inside the Tower of the Sun Make a timed reservation in advance and step inside the tower. Online booking by the previous day is standard, and same-day tickets are sometimes released only when reservation slots remain. The interior viewing takes about thirty to forty minutes. The Tree of Life space expressing the evolution of life follows a one-way route and captivates adults and children alike. Adult admission is roughly 1,080 yen as a guide, and this fee also covers entry to the Natural and Cultural Garden and the Japanese Garden (fees may change, so check the official site for the latest).

11:30 Stroll the Natural and Cultural Garden Walk through the vast Natural and Cultural Garden. Flowers bloom through the seasons and you can enjoy a relaxed picnic on the lawn plazas. The grounds are large enough that walking from end to end takes twenty to thirty minutes, so it helps to decide your order in advance. With the Tower of the Sun set ticket you can enter the Natural and Cultural Garden directly.

12:30 Lunch on the park lawn If the weather is fine, spread out a lunch box on the grass. A meal eaten in such an open space is exceptional. You can also pick up a light meal at the facilities inside or near the park. Since you will be on your feet all day, taking a solid break here makes the afternoon more comfortable.

14:00 Shopping at a large commercial complex Head to Expocity, the large commercial complex next to the park. It is just a few minutes on foot via the connecting walkway from the central gate, with plentiful indoor facilities for shopping, amusement, and even an aquarium. Entry itself is free, with charges at each facility. Being able to enjoy it regardless of the weather is a real plus.

15:30 Visit the National Museum of Ethnology Go to the National Museum of Ethnology, known as Minpaku, inside the park. Its exhibits introducing cultures and lifestyles from around the world are among the largest of their kind and well worth seeing. Admission to the main exhibition is around 780 yen for adults as a guide, opening hours are 10:00 to 17:00 with last entry at 16:30, and it is closed on Wednesdays, so mind the day (special exhibitions may cost extra).

16:30 Close with the Hokusetsu scenery Finish by gazing at the open scenery of Hokusetsu from the park, wrapping up the day at a relaxed pace. The park closes in the early evening, so head to the station with time to spare.
