Nakanoshima Retro Architecture Walk Course

Nakanoshima is a sandbar tucked between two rivers. Retro buildings from the Meiji and Taisho eras are still carefully preserved here. This course is a refined walking plan to leisurely enjoy beautiful buildings and waterside scenery. The route takes about five hours.

Course Route

10:00 Start at Osaka City Central Public Hall Begin at the Osaka City Central Public Hall with its beautiful red brick. Built in the Taisho era, this building is a signature piece of Nakanoshima architecture.

10:45 Visit Nakanoshima Library Head to the Nakanoshima Library right next door. Its solid stone exterior and dome roof are striking, creating a space full of history.

11:30 Stroll the rose garden in Nakanoshima Park Walk through Nakanoshima Park spreading along the river. If the season is right, you can enjoy the rose garden full of colorful blooms.

12:30 Lunch at a riverside cafe Enjoy a relaxed lunch at a stylish cafe facing the water while taking in the scenery.

14:00 Art at the National Museum of Art Visit the National Museum of Art in Nakanoshima. In the exhibition space spreading underground, immerse yourself in the world of contemporary art.

15:30 A tour of the bridges Finish by strolling across the many bridges that span Nakanoshima. Watch the buildings reflected on the water and round off an elegant day.
