Jakusho ji

Standing in the hills of Tendo in Yamagata, Jakusho ji is an old temple known locally by the name Wakamatsu Kannon. It is said to have been opened about 1300 years ago by Gyoki, a high priest of the Nara period, and it is known as the first temple of the Mogami thirty three Kannon pilgrimage. Famous as a matchmaking Kannon, it has been called the Izumo of the east, likened to the great Izumo shrine. It even appears in the lyrics of the Hanagasa folk song that represents Yamagata, making it a storied matchmaking power spot.
