Fukatanikyo Onsen

Rising along the upper Usa River in Nishiki, Iwakuni, this valley hot spring is cherished as Seiryu no Sato, embraced by a pure mountain stream. Its water, said to contain some of the world's highest radon levels, draws many visitors even from the Hiroshima direction to this hidden gem.

Highlights

From the cottages and baths set along the stream, you can take in the valley's beauty through every season. The water, praised for warming the body deeply and resisting the after-bath chill, is another charm found only here.

Enjoying the Seasons

Cherry blossoms come in spring, fireflies in early summer, river play in summer, foliage that dyes the gorge in autumn, and snowscapes in winter, so the rich nature of this clear-stream retreat can be enjoyed all year.

Access and Basic Information

It is about a twenty-minute drive from the Muikaichi interchange on the Chugoku Expressway. Set deep in the mountains, it is best reached by car.

A Quick Tip

Stay in one of the cottages and a quiet night spent listening to the murmuring stream will become a truly special memory.
