Kamado Shrine, the Shrine of Matchmaking and Protection on a Sacred Mountain

Nestled at the foot of Mt. Homan in Dazaifu, Fukuoka, Kamado Shrine is an old shrine long revered as the deity guarding the unlucky quarter of the ancient Dazaifu government seat. Shrine tradition dates its founding to 673, and it enshrines Tamayori hime no Mikoto as the main deity, with Empress Jingu and Emperor Ojin as companion deities. Known for blessings of matchmaking, direction warding, and misfortune warding, it has drawn attention in recent years as a power spot for forging bonds of love. The adjoining Mt. Homan offers well kept trails and is loved by hikers as well.
