Wakita Onsen: Day-Use Hot Spring Baths & Prices

Springing up at the foot of the graceful Inunaki range, Wakita Onsen is an old bath recorded in an Edo period gazetteer of the Chikuzen region. Soaked to the murmur of the Inunaki River, its alkaline simple spring is praised for leaving the skin smooth, and it is loved as the leading spa village of Miyawaka City.

• Access: about 25 minutes by car from the Fukuoka interchange of the Kyushu Expressway, or about 15 minutes from the Wakamiya Smart interchange. Bus service is also available from the direction of JR Hakata Station

• Budget sense: day-use bathing is under a thousand yen as a guide. Even with a meal and a family bath, a few thousand yen per person is enjoyable

An extension of 30 minutes costs 1,200 yen (weekdays only). Reception is 11:00-22:00 on weekdays (closing at 21:00) and 10:00-24:00 on weekends and public holidays (closing at 23:00)
• Booking the family baths: advance reservations are not accepted; it is first-come, first-served on the day at the site. Reception ends once all the slots are taken, so arriving early is the safest approach
• Footing: the Hidamari family baths stand on high ground within the grounds. Because you move from tub to tub among the open-air baths, you will often be walking on wet floors, so non-slip footwear is reassuring
• Parking: there is a dedicated car park in front of the Yunozen no Sato building, and Kazoku no Yu Hidamari has its own car park too

• Avoiding the crowds: since the facility closes on Wednesdays, the Thursdays and Tuesdays on either side, as well as evenings on days off, tend to be busy. Weekday mornings through early afternoon are calmest
