Tokachigawa Onsen

At the heart of the Tokachi Plain, beside the Tokachi River, springs Tokachigawa Onsen. Its great feature is a globally rare plant-derived moor spring. Passing through a lignite layer where ancient plants accumulated, the water is deep brown with a silky touch. With high moisturizing power, it is loved as a beauty water and chosen as a Hokkaido Heritage.

Highlights

- A plant-based moor spring with the moisturizing feel of lotion - A peaceful landscape overlooking the vast Tokachi Plain and its gardens - The swans that arrive in winter and the Sairinka light event

Enjoying the Seasons

From late January to late February the Tokachigawa Swan Festival Sairinka is held, where light art coloring the snowfield and the clear winter air feel magical. From spring to autumn, touring the nearby flower fields and gardens is delightful, and you can savor Tokachi nature along with that soft after-bath glow.

Access and Basic Information

- About 30 minutes by local bus from Obihiro Station - From Tokachi Obihiro Airport, transfer from the airport bus to a local bus - About 15 minutes by car from Otofuke-Obihiro IC on the Doto Expressway - Spring type is sodium chloride and bicarbonate spring

A Quick Tip

Moor springs leave the skin soft and balanced, so avoid rinsing too hard afterward to keep the moisture. The brown water is unusual, so scoop a little in your hands to check its color.
